QUETTA/LAKKI MARWAT: The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported on Wednesday that eight militants were killed in the gunfight in the Bakka Khel neighborhood of Bannu, while three security personnel, including an army major, accepted death.
Following allegations of insurgent activity in the region, the security forces organized an intelligence-based operation (IBO), according to a statement released by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). According to the report, eight militants were killed when the security forces engaged them in combat. There were seven militants hurt.
According to the ISPR statement, Major Atif Khalil, 31, of the Sudhanoti district of Azad Jammu Kashmir, was in charge of his troops when he accepted martyrdom, together with Lance Naik Ghazanfar Abbas, 35, of Layyah, and Naik Azadullah, 36, of the Karak district.
It stated that Pakistani security forces were committed to eliminating the threat of militancy and that a sanitization campaign was underway to eradicate “any other militant” discovered in the region.
In another operation in Zhob, security forces wounded a terrorist in the Sambaza neighborhood of Zhob, leading to the death of one militant and the arrest of another. According to the ISPR, after receiving a tip, security personnel carried out an intelligence-based operation in the Sambaza neighborhood on the evening of October 29 and 30.
According to the statement, firearms and ammo were also found during the gunfight, and one militant was shot dead and another was captured in critical condition.
