In the Puran tehsil of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Shangla district on Wednesday, the police detained a suspect who they claimed had sexually assaulted and injured his four-year-old neighbor.
According to Dawn.com, Aloch Police Station House Officer (SHO) Bakht Zeb Khan was informed by the victim’s uncle that the youngster, who was left alone at home in the Sanila area of the tehsil, was molested by his neighbor and suffered severe injuries.
According to the SHO, the victim was taken by the police to Pir Mohammad Khan Shaheed Hospital in Aloch for a medical checkup. While there, the victim gave a statement in which he described the abuse in detail and claimed to have managed to get away from his accused attacker.
A DNA testing “would take some time,” according to SHO Khan, although the victim’s initial medical report verified the attack.
In accordance with Section 376 (penalty for rape) of the Pakistan Penal Code and 53A (sexual abuse) of the Child Protection Act, he said, the police filed a first information report and detained the suspect based on the uncle’s complaint and the victim’s account.
“More research is being done,” the SHO stated.
The World Health Organization (WHO) reported on Sunday that one billion children are abused sexually, emotionally, or physically each year.
According to the WHO, “being subjected to violence not only violates children’s rights but also raises the risk of mental health issues, infectious diseases like HIV/AIDS, non-communicable diseases like diabetes and cancer, and social problems like criminal activity and substance abuse.”
