MAIDUGURI: According to the state’s disaster management agency, a fuel tanker truck explosion in north-central Nigeria on Sunday claimed the lives of at least 48 persons when it collided with another car.
According to the State Emergency Management Agency in north-central Niger State, a truck transporting animals and travelers crashed with a fuel truck. According to the report, the accident reportedly included a number of other automobiles.
Hussaini Ibrahim, the agency’s spokesperson, reported that 48 people had died in the event, and rescue efforts were still ongoing.
The price of gasoline was raised by at least 39 percent last week by Nigeria’s state-owned company NNPC Ltd. This was the country’s second significant increase in over a year, but shortages have persisted, causing drivers to wait in line for hours in the main cities and villages of the nation.
