ISLAMABAD: On Thursday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif paid a visit to the home of his erstwhile ally to check on the well-being and extended an invitation to JUI-F chairman Maulana Fazlur Rehman to join the current coalition headed by the PML-N.
In addition, the premier urged the Maulana to join a group that will be formed to handle current political challenges. The JUI-F leader was requested to join the ruling alliance and contribute by joining a committee that was suggested to ease political tensions in the nation, an official in the PM’s office confirmed.
This development was also confirmed by a JUI-F representative. He added that the premier asked the Maulana to join the cabinet, but the Maulana declined.
“I don’t believe that the JUI-F’s plan to join the government is real.” Our politics does not involve the pursuit of power. Before the current government was formed, we already had a better deal,” he asserted.
Recall that during the PTI administration, Maulana Fazl headed the Pakistan Democratic Movement, an opposition coalition. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif led the PDM in forming a government in the Centre following Imran Khan’s removal through a resolution of no confidence in April 2022.

Separately, PM Shehbaz gave department heads and federal secretaries instructions to use the Task Management System (TMS) on their own. As the chair of a meeting to evaluate the status of directives mandating federal ministries and agencies to use the Task Management System, he gave these instructions.
The TMS is a cutting-edge program that complies with international standards and is used to track advancements in this area as well as orders sent by the prime minister to federal ministries.
The prime minister promised to take down on tax evaders and those who assist them during a separate meeting focused on tax reforms, digitalization of the economy, and revenue-boosting initiatives.
The prime minister emphasized the role that the Federal Board of Revenue plays in “running the economic wheel” and promised to allocate all necessary funds for the organization’s digitization and human resource development. He asserted that he had given “clear directives to bring more people in the tax net and that the elite should be made to pay their due taxes” during the budget preparations.
