LAKKI MARWAT/BAJAUR: On Sunday, an improvised explosive device (IED) attacked a vehicle in Lakki Marwat, resulting in the deaths of at least seven security officials, including an army captain. Meanwhile, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police repelled an ambush at their checkpost in Bajaur before morning.
The car was headed to the Kaichi Kamar region when it was attacked close to Sultankhel village, which borders the Mianwali district of Punjab, according to local officials.
“In Lakki Marwat District, an improvised explosive device exploded on a security forces vehicle,” the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement.
26-year-old Captain Muhammad Faraz Ilyas, a resident of Kasur; 50-year-old Subedar Major Muhammad Nazir from Skardu; 34-year-old Lance Naik Muhammad Anwar from Ghanchi; 36-year-old Lance Naik Hussain Ali from Ghizer; 33-year-old Sepoy Asadullah from Multan; 27-year-old Sepoy Manzoor Hussain from Gilgit; and 31-year-old Sepoy Rashid Mehmood from the Rawalpindi district were among those who accepted martyrdom, according to the military’s media unit.
Asserting that the security forces were committed to eliminating the threat of terrorism and that the sacrifices made by such courageous soldiers further strengthened their resolve, the ISPR stated, “Sanitization of the area is being carried out to eliminate any terrorists present in the area and perpetrators of this heinous act will be brought to justice.”
Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur and Governor Faisal Karim Kundi of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have both harshly denounced the attack on security troops in the Shahab Khel area of the district Lakki Marwat.
Ambush in Bajaur
According to a statement released on Sunday, the police in the Bajaur district thwarted a militant attack on their position during the night. According to the report, a group of militants attacked a police post in the Khar tehsil’s Miagano district using a variety of weaponry. The militants allegedly targeted the position with rocket launchers and other weapons.
The statement claims that as reinforcements came, a number of police officers stationed at the post responded to the attack.
According to a top police officer, an inquiry into the attack has been opened in an effort to identify the attackers and facilitators.
