Athens: Days after going missing, British health journalist and TV personality Michael Mosley was discovered dead on the Greek island of Symi on Sunday, according to authorities.
The precise reason behind his demise is still unknown, though.
The head of police for the southern Aegean district, Petros Vassilakis, stated that “people on a boat saw a body close to the rocky coast.”
A TV team from Greece’s ERT public channel, which was filming in the region where the 67-year-old vanished on Wednesday after going for an independent walk along the coast in the heat, discovered the body.
“It’s heartbreaking to have lost Michael, my amazing, witty, generous, and intelligent spouse,” his spouse Clare Bailey stated in an announcement verifying his passing.
She said, “He made an amazing ascent, went the incorrect way, and fell somewhere that was difficult for the large search team to see.”
Lefteris Papakalodoukas, the mayor of Symi, also verified that Mosley, who had been vacationing on the island with his spouse, had been located.
Although the precise reason of Mosley’s death could not be ascertained due to the delay in finding his body, Coroner Despina Nathena stated that it did not appear that his death was the consequence of a criminal act.
Prior to earning his medical degree and going on to become a popular broadcaster, author, journalist, and documentary filmmaker, Mosley was employed as an investment banker.
