ISLAMABAD: On Tuesday, Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar traveled to Bishkek to meet with the citizens of Pakistan, including students receiving medical attention for wounds they had received as a result of the recent events in the Kyrgyz Republic.
As to the Foreign Office, Mr. Dar went straight to the National Hospital in Bishkek after landing in Kyrgyzstan to see Shahzaib, a Pakistani textile worker who sustained injuries during the recent mob violence in Bishkek.
Mr. Dar asked Shahzaib about his plans, and he said he wanted to go back to Pakistan. The Kyrgyz authorities have decided to release him and allow him to receive additional treatment in Pakistan at his request. He is anticipated to board a special aircraft with the deputy prime minister and fly to Pakistan.
Pakistan, meanwhile, returned 347 more students from Bishkek, which was rocked by turmoil, when two different planes touched down at Islamabad International Airport on Tuesday.
To return Pakistani students from Kyrgyzstan, PIA has arranged two additional flights, one of which will land in Islamabad and the other in Lahore.
Earlier on Tuesday, the foreign minister and deputy prime minister urged a multipolar world based on multilateralism and cautioned against bloc-based or confrontational geopolitics.
As the current Chair of the SCO Council of Heads of Government (CHG), he addressed the Shanghai Cooperation Organization’s (SCO) Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) and outlined Pakistan’s priorities, which included fostering connectivity, transportation links, youth empowerment, poverty alleviation, and increased practical cooperation among SCO member states.
The deputy prime minister emphasized the right of people to self-determination and the peaceful resolution of long-standing conflicts in line with pertinent UN Security Council decisions, calling for the respect of international law and the UN Charter.
highlighting the necessity of using group and cooperative strategies to fight the threat of terrorism, including addressing its underlying roots. He called for rejecting narrow-minded and self-serving agendas that exploit the terrorist slogan for political advantage. Mr. Dar vehemently denounced the savage Israeli assault on Gaza and restated Pakistan’s unwavering demand for an immediate, unconditional ceasefire and the unrestricted delivery of humanitarian aid.
