On Monday, a group from Saudi Arabia, headed by Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, the Foreign Minister, touched down in Pakistan for a two-day visit.
When the group landed at the Nur Khan Airbase in Rawalpindi, Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar met them.
Along with the head of the Saudi Special Committee, Mohammad Mazyed Al Towaijri, senior officials from the Ministry of Energy and Saudi Fund for General Investments, and Saudi Ministers of Water and Agriculture Abdul Rahman Abdul Mohsen Al-Fadley, Bandar Ibrahim Al Khorayef, and Badr Al Badr, deputy minister of investments, complete the delegation.
The goal of the visit is to accelerate the implementation of the agreement that Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammad bin Salman and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif made during their recent meeting in Makkah to strengthen bilateral economic cooperation.
The two had decided to accelerate Pakistan’s initial round of a $5 billion Saudi investment package.
Meetings with the president, prime minister, foreign minister, corresponding ministers, army chief, and Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) are scheduled for the Saudi delegation.
The Saudi team’s arrival is a “manifestation of mental harmony, mutual trust and cooperation between the leadership of both countries and the same determination for the development of both countries,” according to a statement released by state-run Pakistan Television. The timing of the visit was also described as “very important.”
It stated that the delegation will confer on implementation-related matters and the future steps of the investment.
As per the statement, the economy will gain more speed and confidence, export capacity will rise, joint ventures will be established, new avenues will be opened, and the SIFC’s goals will be progressed.
“Pakistan is no longer diplomatically isolated as it was in recent years.
“Relationships between Pakistan and its consistently dependable and friendly nations, particularly Saudi Arabia, are showing a new closeness, inventiveness, and warmth.”
