NAWABSHAH: Form-31, released by returning officer Ali Sher Jamali on Monday, indicates that 11 candidates have submitted nomination papers to compete in the April 21 NA-207 (Nawabshah-I) by-election.
Amanullah, Mairaj Ahmed, Saeed Ahmed, Ali Akbar Jamali, Syed Akif Hussain, Abdul Rasool Brohi, Ghulam Mustafa Rind, Zakir Hussain Jamali, and Sardar Sher Mohammad Rind were among the applicants.
The majority of the candidates who submitted their nomination papers were Pakistan Peoples Party employees and office holders; they were regarded as Ms. Bhutto-Zardari’s covering candidates.
In the general elections on February 8, Sardar Sher Mohammad Rind and his son Mir Bahawal Rind ran as independent candidates in NA-207 and PS-36 (Daur), respectively, against PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari and his sister Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho, who were endorsed by the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf.
The papers will be examined beginning tomorrow and running through March 21.
Asif Ali Zardari was elected as the nation’s president, leaving the seat empty.
