The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) released a press statement on Wednesday announcing the itinerary for New Zealand’s visit of Pakistan, which will include five Twenty20 internationals (T20I) in April.
The press announcement states that the Blackcaps will travel to Islamabad on April 14 and that Pindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi will host the team’s first three matches. The final two Twenty20 Internationals of the series would then be played in Lahore by both teams.
The teams will play a series beginning on April 18 and ending on April 27.
For the third time in seventeen months, the Kiwis will be visiting Pakistan. On their maiden return in December 2022, after an 18-year break, they drew two test matches and lost the ODI series 2-1 against New Zealand. Pakistan dominated the visitors in the One-Day Internationals (ODIs), winning the series 4-1, while the five-match T20I series finished in a 2-2 draw in April of last year.
The press statement quoted Usman Wahla, the PCB’s director of international cricket, and said that the series was evidence of the unbroken friendship between PCB and New Zealand Cricket (NZC).
Wahla remarked, “We are excited to share the itinerary for the New Zealand men’s team tour to Pakistan in 2024.”
He declared, “This tour represents the enduring bonds and mutual respect that characterize the relationship between our two cricketing nations.”
The speaker went on, “We hope to have yet another competitive series which is a key part of our build-up to this year’s ICC T20 World Cup. Our passionate cricket fans and the people of Pakistan will welcome the New Zealand team again.”
