ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has issued a show cause notice to Geo News on the complaint of Ministry of Defence and ISI.
In the notice, Geo News administration has been asked to submit its reply within 14 days.
The notice states that PEMRA received a complaint from Ministry of Defence on April 22 that Geo News launched a campaign against Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and its officers after the attack on Hamid Mir on April 19.
ISI has alleged that there was a history of airing anti-state content on Geo News, however, the intelligence agency has not mentioned how many times it had moved to PEMRA against Geo News on this matter.
Without listening the viewpoint of Geo administration, PEMRA, in its notice, has stated why not Geo News be shut down over violation of authority’s laws.
Geo News & Co. thrive on sensationalism and drama. The construction and delivery of sentences by their news reporters etc. is done in typical Indian style. Instead of speaking in normal and proper Urdu, they also love using Indian words.
