Srinagar, March 20 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyet Conference has called upon the United Nations to play its role for just settlement of the Kashmir dispute as per resolutions passed by the World Body on the issue.
The demand was raised at the APHC Executive Council meeting in Srinagar, today, which was presided over by its Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq. The meeting called upon the UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon, to undertake a personal visit to occupied Kashmir to take stock of the human rights situation in the territory. The meeting was attended by Professor Abdul Ghani Butt, Maulana Abbas Ansari, Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi Al-Safvi, Muhammad Musaddiq Aadil and Mukhtar Ahmad Waza.
The veteran Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani and JKLF Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik, in their separate statements appealed people to stay away from upcoming India-sponsored sham elections in Kashmir. They said that India and its puppet regime would not succeed in suppressing the Kashmiris’ voice for freedom through crackdowns on Hurriyet leaders and activists. The leaders called upon the world community to impress upon India to grant the people of Kashmir their inalienable right to self-determination, instead of staging election drama.
The Indian police arrested the Chairperson of Jammu and Kashmir Mass Movement, Farida Behanji along with a dozen party activists during an anti-India protest demonstration at Press Enclave in Srinagar, today.
Meanwhile, Hurriyet delegations during their visit to Naikhai expressed solidarity with the family of a boy, Farhat Ahmad Dar, who was recently martyred by Indian troops. They urged international human rights bodies to take congnizance of the continued violations of human rights in the territory.
The Jammu and Kashmir Coalition of Civil Society in a statement urged the United Nations and other international institutions to blacklist the Indian police and army personnel, involved in human rights violations in the occupied territory.
When you say Occupied Kashmir it appears you are referring to Pak Occupied Kashmir. Please refer it as Kashmir or J&K and for PoK you can use your very own nomenclature of Azad Kashmir.
Regarding forthcoming Indian election, only a handful think of it to be a sham and no one else. The world recognizes India as the largest democracy and world observers witness the elections. The Hurriyat leaders can not even win a village panchayat elections and they claim to be the champions of kashmiris.
India will be happy to welcome Ban Ki Moon to J&K as its becoming a preferred tourist destination by Indians and foreigners both.
