BHOPAL: Naxalites have reportedly threatened to blow up Nehru hospital in Singrauli district if the doctors don’t pay Rs 40 lakh. However, officials consider it to be a prank.
Superintendent of police, Jaidevan A said, “A letter was pasted on the walls of the hospital where it was written that there is a lot of corruption prevalent in the hospital and the hospital authorities should pay Rs 40 lakh by June 23. If they fail to do so, the hospital would be blown up.”
“The letter was written on behalf of some Ganesh Singh, secretary Communist Party of India (Maoist) Chhattisgarh but apparently it seems to be some prank. However, we have beefed up the security of the hospital to ensure that no untoward incident happens,” he added.
The hospital management has informed that around a week ago they sacked three workers and we are also investigating that whether they or other staff has any role in the circulation of the threatening letter, Jaidevan told TOI.
Sources said that in the letter hospital authorities were asked to send the money to Hathipur Jungle in Sudergarh area of Chhattisgarh’s Balod district.
