According to Channel beIN Sports, an Egyptian star has approved the deal, but Liverpool and Al-Ittihad have not yet struck an agreement.
According to the broadcaster beIN Sports, Egyptian star Mohamed Salah has accepted a sensational transfer to Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad.
Liverpool of the English Premier League, his present club, has not, however, accepted any offer from Al-Ittihad.
Thirty-one-year-old footballer Salah is currently one of the leading men at Liverpool, and the team’s top scorer for the last six seasons. But if Thursday’s report is correct, he has been tempted by what is likely to be an astronomical salary offer to leave one of England’s most famous clubs.
His departure from the Premier League would be a significant coup for the Saudi Pro League (SPL), whose clubs have brought in a raft of elite players from around the world this summer, including Neymar, Karim Benzema, N’Golo Kante, and Riyad Mahrez.
The Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia has acquired control of four of the country’s leading teams, including Al-Ittihad, giving them access to a sizable sum of money to entice some of the greatest players in the world to Saudi Arabia as the SPL intends to raise its profile and become one of the top leagues in the world.
The Athletic, a sports publication, reported on Thursday that Salah’s agent had earlier stated on social media that his client would not be leaving Liverpool after signing a contract worth reportedly 350,000 British pounds ($441,740) per week last summer. Additionally, Liverpool reportedly told Al-Ittihad that Salah is “not for sale.”
