In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of Hurriyat forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, and other Hurriyat leaders including Hilal Ahmed War and Muhammad Yousuf Naqash, have welcomed Pakistan Prime Minister, Imran Khan’s offer to India to resume talks to settle all outstanding issues between the two countries including the Kashmir dispute.
Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in a statement issued in Srinagar said that people of Jammu and Kashmir always supported every initiative of lasting peace in the region. He said that durable peace could only be assured through resolution of Kashmir dispute as per the universal principles of justice and humanity. The Mirwaiz expressed hope that the Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, would reciprocate Imran Khan’s offer.
Hurriyat leader and the Chairman of Peoples Political Party (PPP), Hilal Ahmed War, in a statement in Srinagar termed the resolution of the Kashmir dispute as key to peace in South Asia. He said that the unresolved Kashmir dispute was the stumbling block in the way of sustainable peace and stability in the region. He reiterated his party’s stand that war is no option and only a meaningful and result-oriented dialogue can bring about resolution of all key issues including the Kashmir dispute which is a bone of contention between Pakistan and India.
Hurriyat leader and the Chairman Islamic Political Party Jammu and Kashmir, Muhammad Yousuf Naqash, in a statement said that meaningful, sustained and structured engagement between India and Pakistan would ensure resolution of all issue including the Kashmir dispute. He said that political engagement among Pakistan, India and pro-freedom leadership was the only viable and civilized way for a dignified and lasting resolution of the Kashmir dispute. He urged India to shun its unrealistic, obdurate and oppressive policy and respond positively to the offer of dialogue and diplomatic engagement of Pakistan.
