As Pakistan Super League (PSL) matches held in United Arab Emirates continue to enthrall and frustrate their spectators alike, among the stands one can also find Indian fans just as invested in the match outcomes as Pakistani fans back home.
Cheering on every boundary and wicket taken, these men take special time off from work to partake in all the excitement brought to them by PSL.
“All players have performed quite brilliantly so far,” said an Indian man, who specifically praised Multan Sultans.
Talking about his favourite Pakistani players, the Indian spectator said Shoaib Malik and Wahab Riaz were his favourites.
When asked if they were enjoying the competition between the PSL teams, another Indian fan remarked “Yes, of course! That’s why we are here.”
Commenting on the need of such competitions between India and Pakistan, like they used to back in the day, the Indian fan said, “Sports can promote good relations between the two countries. There shouldn’t be any politics involved.”
“It should just be taken as a game which is enjoyed by both sides. This way relations can improve,” he added.
There was a shared enthusiasm among all Indian fans who were attending the matches. They wanted the sport to be resumed between the two countries.
Also, they were of the view that the premier leagues of both sides should do away with restrictions barring players from one nationality to play for the other’s league.
