“A woman is a full circle. Within her is the power to create, nurture and transform.” ~ Diane Mariechild
Sameera Lakhani – 20, proved the quote right by becoming the youngest Pakistan ACCA affiliate in the world at the age of 17. Someone who wants to have a successful life – must be able to set goals and accomplish those goals – just like Sameera did.
There is a common denominator for a truly successful life, and Sameera knew that – it is to include wisdom, faith in a higher being, and peace. Sameera shared her journey and experience with us, from where she started and where she is now.
“I started doing ACCA in December 2012; I gave corporate law as my first paper, I was 17 years and 8 months when I completed”, told Sameera.
Sameera talked about her journey and all ups and downs she encountered during her tough studies, “My journey was quite amazing. Yes, I faced tough times as I gave 4 papers at once. So, it was very difficult to manage as I had classes everyday back to back. Plus I had to keep studying at home as well. So it was very difficult to manage, she added.
Sameera found it slightly easy as she said, “But it was good as well because my teachers were very supportive and accessible at all times.”
Sameera’s parents played an important role in giving her the place where she is standing now as she said, I want to say it’s all because of my parents. They always trusted me.”
Lakhani shared a life event with us, describing her parents efforts for her, “I remember it was my sisters mehndi and my father literally dropped me to class picked me up and dropped my mom to parlour
Sameera has been working in a reputable organization since three years; it’s a global audit firm. Being a girl she had to face difficulties in the workplace as coping up with the professional life pressures, she toId. “I made a lot of mistakes but I had really supportive colleagues and managers who covered up for me. Whenever I felt that I couldn’t manage, I started to work a little harder”, Sameera proved that you can do anything if you just work towards your goal.
“In 5 years, I see myself at a top leadership position in the corporate world. I would like to represent women. Also I would want to open up a school for unprivileged girls.”
She has a strong believe that educating a girl is educating a generation.
In the end, Sameera gave her message for the young generation, “Be focused if you want something go for it. Become a doer rather than a wisher.”
According to her, there is no such thing that a girl cannot go into a certain fields, one can choose any field she wants and she will succeed because persistence overcomes resistance. She literally proved that success is never reached unless you have peace.
The success story of Sameera Lakhani makes it clear that wisdom is the ability to have common sense and good judgment. Faith is an understanding that we are just part of the creation of something bigger than us that is unexplainable.
