KARACHI: Players of Pakistan cricket team returned home amid tight security, in the wee hours of Tuesday, to a grand welcome, after winning the ICC Champions Trophy 2017.
A young Pakistan team stunned the world and created history on Sunday, thrashing an in-form and star-studded Indian side by 180 runs in the Champions Trophy finale at The Oval.
Players begin to return separately to their hometowns after unavailability of tickets barred them from boarding a flight together.
Four Cricketers have arrived in Lahore, Two landed in Karachi, while two others to arrive in Islamabad, as well as two en route to Peshawar and Sialkot.
Faheem Ashraf, Babar Azam Ahmad Shahzad along with player of the tournament Hasan Ali landed at Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore, where they were presented with flower bouquets and showered with rose petals.
Sarfraz back home with trophy
Captain Sarfraz Ali and Rumman Raees arrive back home in Karachi, where Mayor Karachi Waseem Akhtar and Governor Sindh Muhammad Zubair greeted the winning captain and also presented the traditional gift of Sindhi Topi and Ajrak.
The skipper displayed the Champions Trophy at the airport to the ecstatic fans.
Sarfraz was escorted with a heavy police protocol to his residence, where several hundred fans gathered to show their support to the victorious captain.
Standing in the balcony of his house in Bufferzone, Sarfraz once again held up the Champions Trophy, much to the delight of the cheering fans.
He also snapped selfies of the memorable reception.
Later, Shadab Khan and Imad Wasim will be arriving at the Benazir International Airport in Islamabad around 7:30 AM.
Young batting sensation Fakhar Zaman is en route to Peshawar and Haris Sohail to arrive in Sialkot from Dubai.
