selfie stick was introduced to fulfill our social media addiction but Coca-Cola, the world famous beverage brand, has gone a step further.
You can now use Coke bottles to snap selfies in certain regions. The company has introduced “selfie bottles” for the purpose.
How Does It Work?
The base of the bottle is embedded with a camera, programmed to automatically take a snapshot if it is twisted 70 degrees.
More importantly, the photo can easily be shared on social media website of your selection i.e. Twitter, Facebook, Instagram or Snapchat.
Israel-based innovation agency Gefen Team designed the bottle for the Coca-Cola Summer Love campaign, the biggest outdoor brand event in Israel.
“Users tag themselves and their friends in photos on Coca-Cola’s social media assets,” Gefen Team told Business Insider in a statement. “It really does the trick and makes the partygoers more present and active during the event, knowing they can share their special moments just by drinking.”
This Innovation Has a Drawback
According to a website which is renowned for analyzing consumer receipt data, InfoScout, the major portion of Coca-Cola customers are 40-years and above. Which is a demographic that isn’t too thrilled about snapping selfies as teens do.
This makes their launch rather questionable and one wonders that how long can Coca-Cola stick around with the selfie bottle idea.
Price, Availability and Stock Decline
It is unclear when these bottles will be made available or whether they will be sold normally or auctioned online.
It should be mentioned that soda sales are generally declining, falling 1.5 percent in 2015 and 1 percent the year before.
Bottled water sales are up and blooming, on the other hand, which are expected to surpass the sales of soda by next year.
