ISLAMABAD: The health of incarcerated Hurriyat leader Yasin Malik has deteriorated and he has been shifted to the Intensive Care Unit in critical condition, Kashmiri media reported on Saturday.
The Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) leader has been in inhumane conditions under illegal detention of Indian occupying forces.
According to reports from Kashmiri media, Yasin Malik was under observation at the ICU at a local private hospital in Srinagar.
Sources said Malik’s right arm has been infected and he has undergone various tests at the hospital.
Quoting sources, the Kashmir Media Service said he was advised by doctors to undergo a surgery and being referred to a different hospital.
The family of Malik’s wife, Mishaal Malik, confirmed the news. Mishaal fainted upon hearing news of her husband’s critical condition, said her mother.
“They have apparently used a bad injection on his right arm, which has caused extensive swelling and has rendered it unusable,” she said.
Mishaal Malik, who resides in Pakistan, had recently claimed in a press conference that her husband’s condition was not stable and was being kept in inhumane conditions by Indian forces.
“The Indian Army has not let Yasin take his medicines or eat food for one and a half months now. He has not had a drop of water to drink since the last six days,” she had said at the press conference earlier this month.
Pakistan deplores ‘torturous treatment of Hurriyat leader’
Pakistan’s Foreign Office also condemned the inhumane treatment being meted out to the Hurriyat leader.
“We deplore Indian forces torturous treatment of Hurriyat leader Yasin Malik, reportedly in critical condition in ICU,” Foreign Office spokesperson Nafees Zakaria said in a statement.
“More than 150 [people] have been martyred, hundreds blinded by pellet guns & thousands injured in IoK since July 8… This must stop,” he said.
Raising the issue of continued human rights violations in Indian Occupied Kashmir, the spokesperson said: “Hurriyat leaders Geelani Sb & Mirwaiz remain in illegal detention & so does Kashmiri women leader Asiya Andrabi. This is highly deplorable.”
Kashmiri youth gunned down by Indian forces
Reports of Yasin Malik’s condition come hours after a Kashmiri youth was killed by Indian forces who used brutal force to disperse a peaceful protest.
Javed Ahmed Mir, 22, was killed after a head injury caused by a teargas shell.
Eyewitnesses said Javed was rushed to a primary health centre and later the Soura Institute of Medical Sciences in Srinagar where doctors announced him dead on arrival.
Javed was a first year college student and was also working at a saw mill to support his family.
After the death residents staged protests demonstrations.
Pakistan’s Foreign Office also condemned the killing of the Kashmiri youth.

To India,
If you think by poisoning or harming Yasin bhai will silence the Kashmiri uprising for a free and fair referendum under a UN auspice.
Then you are sadly mistaken.
Yasin is more loved than Burhan Wani and if anything were to happen to him. His memory will be a flame that will ignite decades of uprising.
What is the difference between India and Israel.
Very little difference.
India is oblivious to what she is doing rather than integrating and working towards peace she is preparing for a tumble…
Whether India wins her proxy wars with neighbours or loses – either way her new found friends in the West benefit.
A broken India will serve as a client estate with assets bought by US and partners. Anot aggressively posturing India will benefit the USA and partners by creating instability in the region to stabilise their economic markets. Inot such a scenario the rise of the Asian century will be no more.
The only solution is reconciliation. Give freedom to Kashmiri’s and accept Pakistan as an equal and a key lynn pin to a rising integrated Asia in which India will benefit so so much.
A strong United Asia, United military, freedom of travel, more business and integrated road and sea links will far exceed the development Europe saw during the Industrial revolution.
India needs to accept the Muslim and Islamic world reality and respect muslim neighbouring countries and internally. Likewise the Muslim neighbours will need to tone down their posturing against India.
The bone of contention is Kashmir.
Reconciliation needs to start or risk losing a rising Asian century.
If only the Indian stop this megalomaniac idea of an Indian only empire across Asia and recognise sovereign states and sovereign rights. Furthermore work towards settling the Kashmiri dispute.
If India were to make this one step the region and not just Pakistan will make 2 steps towards India.
Remember it is in the interest of the West to “Divide and Conquer”.
j&K is a integral part of India and will remain till eternity.
Your comment “accept Pakistan as an equal and a key lynn pin to a rising integrated Asia in which India will benefit so so much. ” is a laughing stock as Pakistan is a terrorist nation and pakistan terrorists are getting killed day and night by Indian Army in J&k. Please leave POK and that will resolve all issues. You don’t have any shame as Your army in disguise of terrorists get killed daily and you kill you uneducated brainwashed men sending them as terrorists. Please improve your state otgherwise time will come there won’t be any stan just pakis.
Time was there when it was east pakistan and west paksitan. It became pakistan when you lost east pakistan in 1971 as you were ashamed to have just west pakistan. The way you go now it will be no stan but only paki.
