Srinagar, First his videos, then his death and now a mobile phone game in his name; Burhan Wani, the slain Hizb Commander’s prominence is refusing to die down.
Recently some anonymous techie has developed a gaming application which in a few days is being shared and installed on thousands of smartphones in the valley.
The app contains six stages with each stage comprising of ten levels. The main character in the game resembles Burhan Wani while those trying to stop him resemble some prominent political figures.
The game is similar to another popular gaming app ‘Prince of Persia’ wherein a user has to run through hurdles while fighting with several opponents who try to kill him. Interestingly, Burhan’s character in the game wears the same band on its forehead which he was seen wearing in one of his videos.
Although there are many similar games available for free on ‘Google Play’, the game figuring Burhan as the main character has immediately hooked the young generation in Kashmir for obvious reasons. It is not available on the Play Store and is mostly being circulated through sharing apps already installed on most smart phones.
Pro-freedom slogans and eulogies praising militants play in the background as the game progresses with further missions getting more complex.
“Normally people love playing 3D games which has a shooting element in it. Since the situation in Kashmir overturned after the killing of Burhan Wani, the game somehow has the relevance with Kashmir. People especially children will love to play it,” said a local android developer who preferred anonymity.
Although people have expressed their amity with Burhan Wani by singing eulogies for him, developing a game in his name has really taken the 21 year old slain militant to another level of technological prominence which he probably would have never expected during his lifetime.
