SRINAGAR – In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyet Conference (APHC) has said that Indian paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has cordoned off the residence-cum-office of APHC Chairman Syed Ali Geelani at Hyderpora in Srinagar, reported Kashmir Media Service.
The APHC spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar said, “A large contingent of armed personnel of CRPF in vehicle has occupied the street at the main gate leading to Geelani’s residence.”
The octogenarian leader is under house arrest since 2010 and large contingent of police is already present outside his residence, the spokesman said.
On the other hand, the APHC said that Dr Naeem Geelani, the elder son of Syed Ali Gilani is being mentally tortured in police station.
“Dr. Naeem Geelani is being repeatedly questioned and mentally tortured for the last couple of days in police stations and Cargo.”
The APHC has condemned the police act.
This is for the first time that paramilitary CRPF has been deployed outside the residence, media reports said.
Other Hurriyet leaders Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Mohammad Yasin Malik, Shabbir Ahmed Shah and human rightist activist Khurram Pervaz are in detention either in their residences or police station.
