KARACHI: Director General of Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) Major General Bilal Akbar on Monday said that August 22 violence was an organised act.
The DG Rangers Sindh visited Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) where he spoke to media representatives, saying that investigations are going on related to the violence that took place on August 22.
MQM’s Labour Division acted as a facilitator in the attack, revealed DG Rangers Sindh.
MQM Labour Division members, working in two banks near Karachi Press Club, gathered boys from different areas of the city for the attack on media houses, said DG Rangers Akbar.
The MQM members from the Labour Division gathered boys in a bank for launching an attack on media, Bilal Akbar said.
He said that arrested six suspects are being handed over to police, adding that a bank worker belonging to the party’s Labour Division is on the run.
“We are searching for him,” said DG Rangers.
The escaped suspect Buland Khan was identified by under custody suspects, said Bilal Akbar, adding that arrested suspects identified people involved in the attack.
In the attack, MQM sector and unit workers were involved, Maj Gen Bilal Akbar said referring to the violence that ensued after MQM chief’s inflammatory speech on August 22.
