HUB – Security agencies gunned down a commander and two members of a banned group involved in an attack on the convoy of President Mamnoon Hussain’s son and killing of labourers in Balochistan’s Hub tehsil yesterday.
A spokesman of Frontier Corps (FC) said that the security personnel were carrying out an operation in Hub when the gunmen affiliated with Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) opened fire on them.
“An exchange of fire took place in which BLA Commander Raziq Marri and his two accomplices were shot dead.
”
The slain terrorists were involved in an attack on the convoy of President Mamnoon Hussain’s son Salman Mamnoon in 2015, which left three people dead.
The terrorists are also said to be behind the killings of nine labourers this year.
Over 70 suspects arrested
Security forces in their combing operations in Quetta and adjoining areas have arrested more than 70 suspected people.
Spokesman of Balochistan government did not give details of the operation but said that several persons were arrested and arms and explosives were recovered from their custody.
After the blast at civil hospital in Quetta, the COAS General Raheel Sharif in consultation with the political leadership directed the security fo5rces for combing operations against terrorists.
After this the security forces set up check posts at different places.
In all 143 persons were arrested in 13 operations in Quetta while more than 500 persons were arrested in the provinces.
