Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan says verification process will continue to purge aliens and illegal people holding Computerized National Identity Cards of Pakistan.
Addressing a news briefing in Islamabad on Monday, he said verification process of Computerized National Identity Cards has been successful so far and over twenty million cards have been verified through SMS.
The Interior Minister said during fifteen days two point six million SMS received to NADRA for verification of family members while NADRA also sent one point eight million SMS to people for this purpose.
He said twenty two thousand fake CNICs have been identified and cases will be get registered against foreigners who did not withdraw their cards.
Chaudhry Nisar said one hundred thousand CNICs have been blocked from 2013 to 2016 and over two thousand passports were cancelled during this period.
He said one million SIMs also verified with the cooperation of Pakistan Telecommunication Authority.
The Minister said Rangers’ role should not be politicized as they are rendering services for the peace in Karachi.
The interior minister said visible reduction has been witnessed in crimes since operation in the city and both federal and provincial governments should carry forward the operation for complete restoration of peace in Karachi.
He said 31 personnel of Rangers have been martyred and eighty nine injured during the operation in Karachi and we have to give confidence to Rangers to keep their morale high.
