KARACHI: The newly elected Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah Monday extended special powers to Rangers for 90 days effective from August 2.
According to CM’s spokesperson, Shah has signed the summary, granting special policing authority to paramilitary force that can only be exercised in Karachi.
The Sindh home department has also been directed to issue the notification in this regard.
“We hope the Rangers will show exemplary performance in bringing peace and stability to the city,” the Sindh CM said.
Yesterday, Shah had met Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari in Dubai on Sunday.
The matters pertaining to Rangers’ powers and prevailing political situation in Sindh was the topic of discussion.
During the meeting, the chief minister said he would establish good governance under the leadership of Asif Ali Zardari.
He pledged to serve the people of the province and strengthen his party.
