Army chief General Raheel Sharif on Thursday said no military in the world has been able to synergise effects as much as the Pakistan Army has single-handedly.
Addressing the participants at Command and Staff College in Quetta, General Raheel said he is proud of commanding, dynamic and resolute force, Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Lt-Gen Asim Saleem Bajwa said.
During the address, chief of army staff emphasised on Pakistan’s resolve, as well as determination to confront the global phenomenon of terrorism and extremism.
Delving into details regarding the ongoing Operation Zarb-e-Azb, the army chief said it has now entered the combing stage. “He explained how we had transited from hard core kinetic operations to intelligence-based operations and now combing,” DG ISPR quoted the army chief as saying.
However, referring to the conclusion of operations, General Raheel said, there is still a lot of work left to do in order to reach the final objective.
The Army chiwf arrived in Quetta for a day-long visit where he visited Headquarters Southern Command for an operational and security review.
On Wednesday General Raheel met wounded soldiers of Pakistan Army who lost their eyesight due to IED blasts during the continuing Operation Zarb-e-Azb.
During his visit to to the Armed Forces Institute of Ophthalmology (AFIO), General Raheel paid tribute to their sacrifice and valour, saying, “We never give up and never quit”.
To date, as many as 179 soldiers have lost their complete or partial eyesight due to IED blasts,” said an ISPR statement.
During his visit, the COAS was given a detailed briefing on the pilot project of state-of-the-art Visual Rehabilitation Center for visually-disabled soldiers, which includes a computer lab, Braille, vocational and recreational facilities.
