KARACHI: Director General of Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) Major General Bilal Akbar Saturday stressed upon the need to set up rehabilitation centers for the convicts in the province.
During his meeting with a delegation of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leaders, the DG Rangers said Sindh’s Apex Committee had also discussed a possibility of establishing the centers.
During the meeting, Maj-Gen Bilal Akbar said that such system is already enforced in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and there is a need of legislation in Sindh to set up the centers in Sindh.
This was the first meeting between the DG Rangers and MQM leaders after Farooq Sattar’s coordinator Aftab Ahmed’s demise in the custody of paramilitary troops.
Meanwhile, The DG Rangers also met separately with the leaders of Muhajir Qaumi Movement and Pak Sarzameen Parties to discuss security situation in the province.
The political parties assured the DG Rangers of playing their role for bringing peace in the metropolitan city.
The Rangers spokesman said that the political leaders acknowledged the security agencies efforts for bringing durable peace in Karachi.
