Foreign Office spokesman Nafees Zakaria on Thursday said ‘several arrests have been made in Pakistan after the detention of RAW agent Kulbhushan Yadav, and investigation is underway to find out more facts’ in his weekly press conference in Islamabad.
Zakaria urged the international community to take note of the situation and stop human rights violations in Occupied Kashmir. At the same time, He cleared that Pakistan will also continue efforts to solve all outstanding issues with India through meaningful dialogue.
On Tuesday, two youths were killed in firing by the Indian army on protesters after they had gathered against an alleged molestation bid by a soldier in Jammu and Kashmir’s Handwara town.
He also demanded to resolve the Kashmir issue in accordance with the UN Security Council resolutions.
He said Organization of Islamic Corporation (OIC) contact group on Kashmir, which met on the sidelines of the OIC summit in Turkey, has reiterated support to the legitimate struggle of Kashmiris.
The OIC on Wednesday stressed the need for a dialogue between Pakistan and India to resolve all their outstanding issues including the Kashmir dispute, local media reported.
He said Pakistanis should refrain from unnecessary visits to Yemen, Iraq and Libya due to poor security situation in those countries.
Pakistan’s nuclear capability is for self-defence and it remains ready to discuss arms control and restraint measures with India, the Foreign Office said.
“Pakistan’s conventional, military and nuclear capability is solely for self-defence and we are committed to credible minimum deterrence,” Foreign Office Spokesman Nafees Zakaria said in a weekly press briefing in response to a question on India acquiring predators for surveillance.
“We took note of President Obama’s call on both Pakistan and India to work together with a view to ensure that their military doctrines do not move in the wrong direction,” he said.
He said Pakistan’s proposal for strategic regime can provide a basis for mutually agreed restraint measures and avoidance of unnecessary arms race in the region, APP adds.
