ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain on Tuesday emphasised that measures should be taken to increase country’s exports.
During a meeting with a delegation of Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI), he said that the government was providing all possible incentives to traders and industrialists for further enhancing country’s exports.
The chambers of commerce and industry should strive to further jack up exports through coordinated marketing efforts, with the collaboration of foreign missions in Pakistan, he said.
The government’s tax amnesty scheme announced last month also came under discussion. On this, the president said it was the responsibility of the business community to unmask tax-evaders from within their ranks.
He urged the small and medium enterprises to increase their exports to compete with neighbouring countries.
“India’s total exports of pharmaceutical products were over $20 billion while half of it was being contributed by a single company,” the president said.
The RCCI representatives informed the president that total annual exports of the local pharmaceutical industry were to the tune of $1bn.
President RCCI Mian Humayun Parvez lauded the economic policies of the government and expressed his support to China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects for progress and prosperity of the country.
