A plan has been finalised to start crediting pension into the respective bank accounts of retired federal government employees before March 31.
Official sources said that in the first phase the pension of retired employees from BPS-17 to BPS-22 would be transferred directly into their bank accounts.
The existing system of making payment through individual pension books to officers of these grades would stop after March 31.
The pension will be transferred to the pensioners’ accounts every month and will be drawn via cheque or ATM card. Facilitation counters are being set up in all branches of National Bank to help the pensioners.
Pensioners have been given the opportunity to open their bank accounts at any branch of any scheduled bank. Option forms to be submitted in Accountant General Pakistan Revenue could be downloaded from www.agpr.gov.pk.
Pensioners are required to submit Rs20 indemnity bonds duly attested by notary public. A widow pensioner will submit a copy of her non-marriage certificate.
After thorough scrutiny the pension will be credited to the respective branches of pensioners.
