Islamabad – The district administration has banned entry of 190 Ulema during the month of Muharram-ul-Harram.
The Ulema belonged to different schools of thought. More than 10,000 armed policemen would be deployed to maintain peace during Muharram-ul-Harram. Army troops, Rangers, Punjab Constabulary would also be deployed in Rawalpindi division, informed police spokesman on Sunday.
Under the security plan, no one would be allowed to stand on rooftops of commercial and residential buildings situated along the routes of mourning processions and carry the weapons.
City police have completed all the arrangements to maintain peace during the holy month and 10,000 armed policemen, volunteers, elite force and lady police would be deployed to give security cover to the processions. Special checking of the procession routes will be completed after clearance by the bomb disposal squad and there will also be aerial surveillance of mourning processions to ensure foolproof security.
The CCTV cameras and walk through gates will be installed to provide complete security cover to the mourners. City Police Officer (CPO) Israr Ahmed Abbasi had organized various meeting with the Ulema, traders and District Peace Committee members.
The CPO said that security of the region has further tightened to avert any untoward incident. Main mourning procession of the Muharram will be taken out from the Colonel Maqbool Imambargah and it will culminate at the Imambargah Qadeemi after passing through its designated route.
The Qadeemi Imambargah will be the central point where all processions will gather from different localities of the city.
Meanwhile, Rawalpindi Waste Management Company (RWMC) Managing Director (MD) Irfan Ahmad Qureshi has directed to clean the routes of Muharram processions. The construction material and debris would be removed before the Muharram procession proceeding.
Talking to media persons, he said that cleanliness campaign was in progress, adding that sanitary staff had been deployed to perform their duties. The MD warned that strict action would be taken against those showing negligence in their duties.
Meanwhile, all government departments including TMAs, WASA, Health, Rescue 1122, Civil Defence directed to ensure arrangements of maintaining security, peace, cleanliness, availability of lights, drinking water, scanning cameras, walk through gates on the routes of the Muharram processions and places of Majalis.
It is to be stated that 538 mourning procession and 3813 of Majalis would be held from 1st Muharram to 10th Muharram. Under the security plan,10,000 armed policemen would be deployed to maintain peace during the Muharram.
