KARACHI: Pakistan Women captain Sana Mir will be looking to score her 1,000th ODI run as the team prepares for the last one-day against Bangladesh Women set to be played at the Southend Club Cricket Stadium on Tuesday.
Sana, who is just 18 runs away from the milestone, was dismissed on a duck after facing six deliveries in the first ODI against Bangladesh on Sunday.
The 30-year-old has scored 982 runs in 77 ODIs with an average of 15.58 and a strike rate of 38.18.
“I’m looking forward to the next match — 18 runs are not much and I can score them on Tuesday if luck is on my side,” Sana told The Express Tribune. “I have to focus on staying on the crease more.”
Apart from Sana, three other cricketers from Pakistan — Bismah Maroof (1,603), Javeria Khan (1,403) and Nain Abidi (1,111) have reached the 1,000-run milestone in ODIs.
Sana also thanked Pakistan men’s T20 captain Shahid Afridi for visiting them and boosting their morale.
Afridi met the women’s team during a practice session on Monday and appreciated Bangladesh’s decision to tour Pakistan.
“First the Zimbabwe men’s team took a positive step by touring Pakistan, and now the Bangladesh Women have played a vital role in the road to revival of international cricket in the country,” he said. “They have opened a way for other teams to tour our country.”
