KARACHI: Led by Salma Khatun, a 15-member Bangladesh women’s team along with their officials flew into the city here on Monday for the Twenty20 and One-day International series against their Pakistan counterparts.
With their arrival, Bangladesh became the first country to have sent their national women’s team to Pakistan after 2006.
Besides the 15-member team, seven officials are also part of the visiting party. MA Awal Chowdhury, director Bangladesh women’s wing of the Bangladesh Cricket Board, is heading the delegation.
The visitors at the airport were received by National Stadium general manager Arshad Khan, head of PCB women wing Shamsa Hashmi and PCB security director Col. Azam along with other staff members of the host Board.
During their stay in Pakistan, Bangladesh women will play two Twenty20 Internationals and as many ODIs. The action begins with the first T20 on Wednesday. All the matches will be staged at Karachi’s Southend Club Ground.
The opening news conference and unveiling of the T20 series trophy will be held at the Southend Club on Tuesday.
Sana Mir-led Pakistan defeated Bangladesh in a nail-biting finish at the Incheon Asian Games final last year.
