The roof of the provincial home minister’s office collapsed as a result of the explosion. Khanzada is reportedly trapped under the rubble along with other people present at his office as the entire structure of his office building has been destroyed.
“As per initial reports Shuja Khanzada is critically injured and still trapped under debris,” Punjab Home Department Secretary Azam Suleman told The Express Tribune.
According to initial reports, a suicide bomber entered Khanzada’s political office and blew himself up. At least 25 people are trapped under debris and 10 bodies have been pulled out.
Police and rescue teams have reached the site and rescue efforts are underway. Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar has sent a helicopter for rescue efforts.
