Srinagar, July 12 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairperson of Dukhtaran-e-Millat, Aasiya Andrabi and the Secretary General of Kashmir Tehreek-e-Khawateen, Shamim Shawl, expressing grief over the sad demise of former AJK President Sardar Abdul Qayyum Khan, paid glowing tributes to him.Aasiya Andrabi in a statement issued in Srinagar said that Sardar Abdul Qayyum had a great contribution towards the Kashmir cause. “However, his biggest honour is that he has been the first to fire a bullet on the occupation forces.”
She said, “He was a living encyclopedia, besides having played a big role in Kashmir movement.” She said that Sardar Qayoom would always be remembered.
Shamim Shawl in her statement termed Sardar Qayyum a great patron who felt it necessary to give a voice to Kashmiri women. “He has this distinct honour that during his tenure as AJK Prime Minister an exclusive Kashmir women delegation apprised the United Nations Human Rights Commission about the plight of Kashmiri women. I had the honour to be one of the members of this delegation”, she added.
