Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif expressed on Saturday concern over the ‘acts’ of foreign intelligence agencies attempting to destabilise Pakistan, while also hitting out at recent statements of the Indian political leadership.
“We would take all possible measures to control any anti-Pakistan acts,” the premier said, according to DG ISPR Gen Asim Bajwa.

The statement came during the premier’s visit along with Army Chief General Raheel Sharif to the Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) headquarters in Islamabad.
“Terrorism and extremism are the biggest challenge to a secure, prosperous Pakistan,” the premier added.

Further, the statement came days after Indian Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar said that India would use terrorism to counter terrorism from other countries.
Following the statement, Adviser to the Prime Minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz said that Parrikar’s statement confirms Pakistan’s apprehensions that India is involved in terrorism in Pakistan.
Expressing concern over the acts of foreign intelligence agencies destabilising Pakistan, PM Nawaz said, “We’ll collectively defeat all designs of our enemies and make Pakistan a secure and affluent country no matter what the cost.”

Further, he emphasised the need for more proactive and coordinated role of all intelligence agencies to bring optimum effects to defeat all threats.
The premier also lauded the efforts and achievements of ISI in countering terrorists’ attempts and paid rich tributes to the officers and men of the agency who have laid their lives in the line of duty.
“We are proud of our premier intelligence agency and they deserve due recognition and acknowledgement,” PM Nawaz said.
DG ISI Rizwan Akhtar briefed the meeting regarding the external security situation of the country and the ongoing counter-terrorism operations.
“Recent ongoing successful intelligence based operations (IBOs) and number of terrorists attempts averted in near past and terrorists networks busted across the country as a result thereof were discussed,” according to ISPR.
Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar, Special Advisers to PM on foreign affairs Sartaj Aziz and Tariq Fatemi were present at the meeting.
