Russian space agency Roscosmos confirmed that the unmanned cargo ship that was launched from Kazakhstan on April 28 went out-of-control and burnt up as it re-entered Earth’s atmosphere. The spacecraft re-entered over the Pacific, but only a few pieces were expected to enter into the sea. The Progress M-27M was loaded with more than three tonnes of supplies to the International Space Station. It was carrying food, water, fuel, oxygen and clothing for the crew of six people on the ISS.
Roscosmos said, “The Progress M-27M spacecraft ceased to exist at 05:04 Moscow time (02:04 GMT) on 8 May 2015. It entered the atmosphere… over the central part of the Pacific Ocean”.
Though it was successfully launched, it faced a communication failure and then it started spiralling out of control. Since the time it has gone out of control, it has been descending slowly and orbiting earth in a pattern that was taking it over the eastern United States, Colombia, Brazil and Indonesia.
