SHABQADAR: Afghan President Ashraf Ghani has assured Pukhtun leaders that he will not allow Afghan soil to be used against Pakistan, said Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) Chairman Aftab Ahmad Sherpao on Tuesday.
Addressing a public gathering in Battagram, Shabqadar, Sherpao said peace in Pakistan is dependent on peace in Afghanistan. Speaking about his recent visit to Kabul on the invitation of President Ghani, Sherpao said the meeting was a step in the right direction. “Political leaders from Pakistan and President Ghani agreed that both countries will not allow their land to be used for activities against each other and concrete steps will be taken in this regard,” said Sherpao.
According to the leader, QWP supports the 21st Amendment and Operation Zarb-e-Azb in the greater interest of the country.
Sherpao demanded a judicial enquiry into the Army Public School (APS) massacre. Lashing out at PTI chief Imran Khan, Sherpao said Imran is demanding a judicial commission to investigate election rigging, but remains silent over such a commission for investigating the APS attack. “When army chief Raheel Sharif was giving courage to the students of APS, the chief minister who belongs to PTI was not there to express solidarity with them,” said Sherpao, referring to COAS’s visit to APS on its reopening on Monday.
The QWP leader also criticised ANP terming its previous government “the most corrupt in the history of K-P.” Sherpao claimed ANP plays the Pukhtun card for its personal agenda but it forgets Pukhtuns when it comes into power.
ANP Shabqadar leaders Saeed Kareem Khan and his family announced they were joining QWP on the occasion.
