Brussels, (PR) : Raja Muhammad Khalid, Chairman of the Youth Wing Europe and President of Istihkam Forum Belgium, released a message on the 20th anniversary of the October 8, 2005, earthquake martyrs.
He stated that the October 8, 2005, earthquake was a massive trial for the nation, and the unity and solidarity the people showed during that time were unprecedented. He emphasized that the country has not forgotten the devastation of the earthquake or the sacrifices of those who perished, and the entire nation shares the grief of those who lost loved ones in the natural disaster.Raja Muhammad Khalid added that the “unparalleled national unity and solidarity gave the affected people a renewed spirit and determination to get back on their feet.” He noted that the natural calamity resulted in the martyrdom of over 80,000 people and left millions homeless in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and the northern areas. He stressed that the nation still needs the same unity and solidarity displayed after the 8th October earthquake today.He further remarked that just as the entire nation bravely faced a major catastrophe like the earthquake, we can overcome the current challenges facing the country by putting aside our mutual differences.He concluded by offering a special prayer to Allah Almighty for the elevation of the ranks of those martyred in the 2005 earthquake and for the protection of the beloved homeland from such calamities.
