KARACHI: Federal Minister of State for National Health Services Saira Afzal Tarar on Friday said poor health indicators were shameful for all and stressed that there was a need for coordinated efforts to improve the overall healthcare situation in the country.
She said this at a programme held to distribute Chinese-donated ambulances among the provinces at the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC).
The Chinese government donated 80 modern life-saving ambulances to Pakistan, of which 20 each were given to Punjab and Sindh, 10 to Islamabad, eight each to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, five each to Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan and four to the federally-administered tribal areas.
Ms Tarar said each ambulance was worth nine million rupees and thanked China for the donation.
She said GAVI mission appreciated the performance of polio workers for improving routine vaccination coverage in the country.
Health secretary Saeed Ahmed Mangnejo said emergency response ambulances service would be launched in Thatta and Sujawal districts soon in collaboration with the Aman Foundation. He said the new ambulances would be dispatched to the regions where they were needed the most.
Director-general of the National Health Emergency Preparedness and Response Network Munir Mangrio also spoke.
plzlet me know. pakistan being a country of 180 million needs china to provide basic necessities like ambulances, build roads, highways> why not look at usa and how since the begining of last century it has built highways, missiles, rockets, excelled in medicine, science etc? why do muslims lag behind these western countries which we ridicule and yet send our children to get an education including benazir bhutto, nawaz sharifs son etc.
this is the collective failure of muslims thruout the world , their selfishness, ineptness. the reason many of the muslims who settle in usa, europe are able to do so because they believe in what islam prescribes. the value of time, money, efficiency, brotherhood which we muslims sadly lack.
sadly the muslims have deviated from islam and are nominal followers of islam.
hope pkkh will have the decency to have my reply posted rather than remove anything which hurts sentiments of muslims.
Dear Minister Sahiba. If you are fair enough , hand over the ambulances, to FATA, Balochistan, Gilgit and Tharparkar.
If you are not, paint them orange or red and keep them in Punjab.
