According to the military’s media arm, security forces in Mastung carried out an intelligence-based operation in the early hours of August 19 that resulted in the deaths of three terrorists who were accountable for the martyrdom of Panjgur’s deputy commissioner.
“These terrorists were involved in numerous terrorist activities in the area and were also responsible for the shahadat of Deputy Commissioner of Panjgur, Mr. Zakir Ali, on August 12, 2024,” according to a statement released by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
In addition to the three terrorists who died, the ISPR reports that three more terrorists were hurt during the operation’s intense gunfight.
According to the statement, “Today’s operation has brought the perpetrators to justice and avenged the heinous act.”
It further stated, “Pakistani security forces, in sync with the country, are resolute in foiling attempts to undermine the peace, stability, and advancement of Balochistan.”
The prime minister, Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, praised the security forces for eliminating the terrorists and said that anyone engaged in terrorism should take note of what happened to the people who killed DC Panjgur.
According to Radio Pakistan, “the prime minister reiterated Pakistan’s steadfast resolve to eradicate the threat of terrorism and declared that the war on terrorists will not end until they are completely eradicated, adding that the entire nation stood with the armed forces in their fight.”
The operation on Monday follows the Chief Minister of Balochistan’s announcement last Thursday at a news conference that Panjgur DC was slain by the outlawed Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), according to intelligence reports and supporting documentation.
While touring the Frontier Corps (South) Balochistan on Sunday, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi made the observation that enduring peace was a prerequisite for Balochistan’s prosperity and growth.
Security troops in the province of Balochistan have frequently been bombed throughout the decades-long conflict spearheaded by separatist organizations, some of which are battling for independence or a larger portion of the area’s mineral resources.
