Srinagar: Two Border Security Force (BSF) men were killed and four others injured after militants attacked their vehicle near Air base in Quil area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Saturday afternoon.
Sources said that militants opened heavy fire upon a BSF Gypsy bearing registration number WB74J3708 near higher secondary school Quil Pulwama.
Police Official sources said militants attacked a BSF party at Koil in Pulwama with automatic weapons( Ak-47)Two BSF personnel Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Rudal Yadav and Head Constable (HC) Subedar Yadav of 165 battalion were
killed.Four other personnel identified as Parabjeet Singh ofthe same batallion, HC Jai Prakash, constable Vinod Kumar and Amar Bhadur of 92 batallion were injured.Security forces also retaliated but the militants managed to escape.
Soon after the attack, army, SOG and CRPF cordoned off the whole area and launched searches to nab the attackers.
Today’s attack on BSF personnel came few days after director General of BSF visited Srinagar following militant attack on August 11 in which eight BSF personnel, including an Assistant Commandant wereinjured at Pampore on Srinagar-Jammu nationalhighway. The BSF personnel were returning fromPahalgam after Amarnath yatra duty.Next day gunmen shot dead a constable of Railwaypolice near a railway track in Pulwama.Later on August 13 militants attacked a police vehicle resulting in death of two police personnel and a civilian(machanic) and
injuries to another non local at Galandar, Pampore, in Pulwama district.
