ISLAMABAD – PIA Chairman Nasir Jafir Thursday said that fifteen new aircraft will be added to the airline’s fleet by the end of next year.
Addressing a discussion on performance of Pakistan International Airlines organised by PILDAT in Islamabad, he said with this (15 new aircraft) the strength of PIA fleet will reach fifty.
Nasir Jafir said 83 present of PIA flights are on time.
Chairman PIA said we have taken number of steps to meet the challenges of national flag carrier.
He said we have advertised the post of Managing Director, adding that hiring would be made on merit He said PIA is suffering a loss of 300 million rupees.
He said despite challenges we operated Haj operations ‘successfully’.
Nasir Jafir said that lack of ownership and accountability is one of the major problems of PIA.
He said better human recourse is key to revival PIA.
Former Secretary Defence Nargis Sethi briefed the session about the performance of PIA.
Senator Nouman Wazir, PPP spokesperson Farhat Ullah Babar, PPP Secretary General Sardar Latif Khossa was also present on the occasion.
