QUETTA: On Wednesday, a bombing in the provincial capital of Balochistan injured twelve persons, including two police officers. The attack was directed towards a police vehicle.
Authorities said that a motorcycle packed with explosives had been parked in the Bhosa Mandi section of the Eastern Bypass by unknown miscreants. An explosion was set off when a police car pulled up, supposedly with the use of a remote control gadget.
A police constable, the police van’s driver, and ten additional bystanders were hurt in the bombing.
Police raced to the scene and took the injured to the Quetta Civil Hospital as soon as they learned about the blast.
It was reported that two injured individuals had critical conditions.
The miscreants’ goal was a police cruiser, which sustained minor damage from the explosion. Senior police officer Abid Jadoon stated, “A remote-controlled device was used to detonate the explosive-laden motorbike.”
Naimat, the police constable, Abdul Hafeez, Muhammad Isa, Qadeer Ahmed, Abdul Qadeer, Deen Muhammad, Khalil Ahmed, Naseem, Hasnain, Saifullah, Niamatullah, and Abdul Qahar were named as the victims.
3 injured, 1 teen dead in Sibi
In a related incident, three people were hurt and a 15-year-old child lost his life when unidentified motorcyclists threw a hand grenade at the Sibi Irrigation Department supervisor’s home in the Allahabad region.
Four teens were hurt when the hand grenade detonated in front of the SDO’s home.
After learning of the occurrence, police raced to the scene and took the injured to the district hospital, where one of them later passed away from his wounds.
Two more teenagers were said to have major medical conditions.
The teens who were injured were identified as Muhammad Aqib Mangrio, Owais Bahadur, Babar Ali, and Shahzaib. The deceased youngster was named Shahzain.
A case has been filed by the police. Thus yet, no one has taken credit for the two explosions.
On Wednesday, Balochistan’s Chief Minister, Mir Sarfaraz Bugti, denounced the assault on the police vehicle in Quetta and the hand grenade attack in Sibi, stating that terrorists would face consequences.
