LAHORE: Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif said on Monday that he would fight till his last breath for the supremacy of the people’s mandate.
Nawaz Sharif made these comments to media personnel during his visit to Allama Iqbal’s mausoleum in Lahore. The PML-N chief also wrote in the visitor’s book after he visited the place.
“Pakistan belongs to 200 million people, not a few,” he said.
The PML-N chief said that the real happiness of Independence Day would have been felt if East Pakistan would also be part of the country.
“One arm of Pakistan was cut and made into Bangladesh,” he said. “The part of the country that remained with us has seen anarchy and chaos,” he added.
Nawaz Sharif said that rule of law and democracy derailed after the death of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. He said that Pakistan had suffered because it had adopted the Doctrine of Necessity over the years.
“It is time for us to build the Pakistan that was envisioned by Muhammad Ali Jinnah,” he said.
Nawaz spoke highly of his third tenure as the country’s prime minister, stating that people were a witness to the fact that PML-N had delivered during the past four years.
“We worked on electricity generation projects and delivered in other areas well,” he said.
