“The supply pipes have dried up now. No water comes through the supply scheme Wuzrampathri now,” Hilal Ahmad, a local said.
Inhabitants of scores of villages in this district today complained that they were suffering due to unavailability of drinking water for last couple of weeks.
The inhabitants of Arihal, Wuzrampathri, Bandzoo, Drach, Dangerpora, Saidapora Nikas, Khambri, and some other villages comprising thousands of households complained that they were without drinking water for last couple of weeks.
“The supply pipes have dried up now. No water comes through the supply scheme Wuzrampathri now,” Hilal Ahmad, a local said.
“The women are forced to fetch the water from streams and springs in villages miles from their homes,” he said.
Executive Engineer PHE, Shopian/Pulwama, Nisar Ahmad Shah said: “The water sources have depleted and dried considerably, hence the water shortage. We will send water tanks to the affected villages to mitigate the problem.”
