In occupied Kashmir, the Hurriyat forum led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has condemned the use of indiscriminate force by the Indian police and troops on people of the Kashmir Valley particularly of South Kashmir.
The forum in a statement issued in Srinagar termed it as an open aggression and the worst form of state terrorism. “It is because of the unbridled powers that are given to the Indian forces and the lack of accountability that every day innocent civilians are brutally killed and wounded besides properties vandalized,” it said.
The Hurriyat forum further said that the brutal use of force and unleashing the reign of terror by killing innocents, blinding and maiming youth, vandalizing properties of people, torching orchards and harassing the elderly people had become a routine affair in Kashmir and the Indian forces continued to kill Kashmiris at their will and wish.
Meanwhile, on the directions of forum Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, a delegation comprising Hurriyat leaders Mukhtar Ahmed Waza, Abdul Rasheed Untoo, Ghulam Nabi Najar, Abdul Majeed Wani and Jaffer Kashmiri visited Khrew Pampore, the residence of Faizan Ahmed Poswal, a 15-yrs-old student who was mercilessly killed in the firing of the troops in Pulwama, recently. The delegation members expressed heartfelt condolences with the bereaved family.
On the other hand, constant harassment by the Indian soldiers associated with a newly established army garrison in Shopian district has forced the residents of Kundalan village to look for another place for shelter. Residents of the area said that soldiers assaulted civilians and vandalised property during the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday.
They said that such acts of the army were not new for them, as they were subjected to assault, vandalism and summoning of youth to army camps every other day since the establishment of the army garrison at Nagisharan, a kilometre away from Kundalan.
