Abdul Ghafoor, Managing Director Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC), said that PTDC will soon setup a modern Wildlife Park and resort with modern facilities near Kular village on the motorway.
MD PTDC highlighted that promotion of beautiful sites in Pakistan through media and other means could bring fruitful results. There are many opportunities for tourism in Pakistan, but this sector needs investment so that we will be able to provide world-class facilities to tourists, he said.
A beautiful resort is being setup at Rawalpindi, which will be constructed on the pattern of the Ottoman-Mughal construction style, he added.
He said that there are several projects in the pipeline for the development of tourism in the country, including a bus terminal at Nankana Sahib, the establishment of motels in Hawks Bay Karachi, Moenjodaro, Baran Kalay (KP) and tourist facilitation centres in Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, Muzaffarabad, Gilgit, Quetta and Peshawar.
Apart from this, PTDC owns lands in several areas across the country, which can be setup for tourist facilities through joint ventures.
These lands are meant for construction of Aiwan-e-Sayyahat/PTDC Headquarters in Islamabad, Naltar valley ski resort, 172 acres at coast of Gudani in Balochistan, Sukkur, Banjosa Lake (Azad Kashmir) Muzaffarabad (Azad Kashmir), he added
