ISLAMABAD: Pakistan welcomes the Britain’s desire to join the multi-billion dollar China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project.
In an interview with Radio Pakistan, Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal said several countries in the European Union and the Central Asian Republics are also showing a keen interest in the mega project.
According to Iqbal, this proved that the project is not only restricted to Pakistan and China but has a greater regional impact and would promote connectivity in the region and beyond.
The minister said CPEC which has changed the image of the country would make Pakistan a hub of manufacturing and commerce.
Ahsan Iqbal added that the establishment of economic zones under CPEC would help create employment opportunities in the country and strengthen economic growth.
Responding to a question, Ahsan Iqbal said Operations Zarb-e-Azb and Raddul Fasaad have broken the back of terrorists.
